Dalian Shipai World's first electronically controlled marine diesel engine passed the appraisal
Recently, the world's first 7RTfLex58TB electronically controlled large-scale low-speed marine diesel engine, developed by Dalian Marine Diesel Engine Factory and patented by Wartsila Switzerland, has successfully passed the technical appraisal for new products put into operation by the Municipal Economic Commission. This milestone marks a significant achievement in China's marine engine industry.
As the main engine for Dalian Shipbuilding Diesel Engine Co., Ltd., this engine powers the 110,000-ton crude oil carriers produced by Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Group Co., Ltd. After over a year of operational testing at sea, it has fully met all the performance requirements set by the vessel. The engine is equipped with several advanced features that distinguish it from traditional models.
Firstly, the RT-Flex diesel engine utilizes an electronically controlled common rail system, which fundamentally changes the conventional design by eliminating the need for fuel pumps, camshafts, and transmission gears. Secondly, the engine's core functions are managed through an electronic computer, using liquid-electric servo devices to control, regulate, and drive operations. Thirdly, the electronic control common rail system offers excellent reliability, easy handling, lower cylinder oil consumption, reduced fuel consumption, and improved emission control. Additionally, it ensures stable operation even at low speeds.
