Dalian Shipai World's first electronically controlled marine diesel engine passed the appraisal
Recently, the world's first 7RTfLex58TB electronically controlled large-scale low-speed marine diesel engine, developed by Dalian Marine Diesel Engine Factory and patented by Wartsila Switzerland, has successfully passed the technical appraisal for new products put into operation by the Municipal Economic Commission. This milestone marks a significant step forward in China's ship propulsion technology.
This advanced engine serves as the primary power unit for Dalian Shipbuilding Diesel Engine Co., Ltd., which is part of the Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Group. It is specifically designed for large crude oil tankers with a capacity of 110,000 tons. Following over a year of operational testing at sea, the engine has consistently met all performance requirements set by the vessel.
The RT-Flex diesel engine features an electronically controlled common rail system that revolutionizes traditional engine design by eliminating fuel pumps, camshafts, and gear transmissions. Its core functions are managed through an electronic control system that regulates and drives the liquid-electric servo mechanism.
