House fire in Buffalo Grove, 5-6-16

A resident called the Buffalo Grove Fire Department around 2 AM on Friday, May 6, 2016, reporting a fire in the attached garage. Arlington Heights Engine 4 was the first to arrive since the address was just a few blocks from their station. They found a fully involved house and immediately deployed their deck gun on the garage while setting up a handline. A minute later, Buffalo Grove Tower 25 arrived and brought in a second line. The majority of the fire was quickly knocked down, and I arrived shortly after that.

As soon as Engine 4 arrived, the alarm was upgraded to a Code 4 for the working fire, and a Box Alarm was requested to bring in more personnel. Thanks to the quick response, the fire was contained and did not spread into the main house. The residents were already outside when the firefighters arrived, which likely helped prevent any injuries.
