Chevron plans to build at least three biofuel units
According to Oil and Gas Online Houston, Chevron’s subsidiary has reached an agreement to construct at least three biofuel facilities for Ethanex Energy. Ethanex Energy is a leading renewable energy company focused on producing cost-effective ethanol.
Under the deal, Chevron Energy Solutions (CES) will be responsible for engineering, site surveys, and civil design work to develop the ethanol plants. These facilities will leverage cutting-edge technology to enhance production efficiency and reduce operational costs.
The agreement also grants CES the authority to negotiate contracts related to the engineering, procurement, and construction of the biofuel projects. This marks a significant step in expanding sustainable energy infrastructure across the U.S.
The three units are planned to be located in Missouri, Illinois, and Kansas, respectively. Each facility is expected to have a capacity of around 132 million gallons of fuel-grade ethanol annually.
Chevron highlighted that the current total ethanol production capacity in the United States stands at approximately 5 billion gallons per year. With this new project, the industry could see a meaningful boost in clean energy output, supporting both environmental goals and energy security.
