**Box Alarm in Glen Ellyn, May 9, 2014**
Hey everyone,
Just got back from covering a box alarm in Glen Ellyn earlier today. It happened around 503 Duane Street. John Tulipano sent over some quick shots for us. The fire department responded swiftly and managed to contain it pretty quickly. It was a small fire, just one room on the third floor in the back of a three-story building that's mixed-use—commercial on the lower levels with apartments above. The structure is about 50 feet by 100 feet. Luckily, only one civilian needed to be taken to Loyola Hospital.

**Second Fire in Bloomingdale, May 9, 2014**
And that wasn’t all for the day! Just a few hours later, there was another fire in Bloomingdale. This one was in a three-story, occupied apartment building that measures 50 feet by 75 feet. The fire originated in a hot water heater flue inside a void space on the first floor and spread upward through the void. Thankfully, firefighters were able to get it under control quickly using just one line. The whole thing was resolved pretty fast, which is always a relief.
