Apartment fires in Glen Ellyn and Bloomingdale 5-9-14

**Box Alarm in Glen Ellyn, May 9, 2014** Hey everyone, This just came in from John Tulipano: "Caught some quick shots today from a box alarm in Glen Ellyn at 503 Duane Street. The fire department responded swiftly and managed to knock down the flames pretty quickly. It was a small fire that broke out in one room on the third floor at the back of a three-story building. This commercial property, measuring 50 by 100 feet, also had apartments on the upper floors. Luckily, only one civilian required transport to Loyola hospital." "This was the second fire I caught today. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much visible smoke or flames, but it was still a significant event. The fire occurred in a three-story apartment building, 50 by 75 feet in size. It started due to an issue with the water heater flue in a void space on the first floor, which then spread upward through the voids. Thankfully, the firefighters were able to get it under control quickly using just one hose line."
