Still and Box Alarm fire in Chicago, 3-30-19
This message comes from Eric Haak, who shared some photos taken during the still and box alarm at 7041 South Green Street on March 30th. These images were captured roughly 10 to 15 minutes after the initial call came in. Unfortunately, I didn't have much time to explore the scene myself because the Chicago Police Department asked everyone to clear out from the front of the building shortly after my arrival. As a result, these are the best shots I managed to get under the circumstances.
Attached is a picture of Chicago Fire Department Engine 54 at the scene. The smoke billowing from the attic of the burning house can be seen in another image, offering a clear view of the intensity of the situation. In yet another photo, firefighters are shown working hard during the overhaul phase, completely enveloped by thick smoke as they worked to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.
These photos truly capture the dedication and hard work of our first responders, especially considering the challenges faced at the scene. It's always a reminder of how quickly situations can escalate and how important it is for all parties to cooperate during emergencies.
