Private Entrepreneur Fan Binghong Appointed Director of Nangang Polytechnic

Xu Fuming, the president of Nanjing University of Science and Technology, recently made a special visit to Changzhou. During this trip, he was appointed as the director of Changzhou Fan Qun Drying Equipment Co., Ltd., while Professor Fan Binghong, a renowned expert in drying equipment, was also appointed as a director at the university. This collaboration marks a significant step in strengthening the relationship between academia and industry. Fan Binghong, who earned his master’s degree in 1991, founded Fan Qun Drying Equipment Co., Ltd. in Changchun. Leveraging his technical expertise, he led a team of professionals to drive innovation and promote the commercialization of research through incentive mechanisms such as stock options. Over more than a decade, the company has become a leading center for drying technology in China, holding core intellectual property rights and participating in the development of six national standards, including those for pharmaceutical GMP ovens, vacuum dryers, and spray dryers. The partnership between Fan Qun Drying and Nanjing University of Science and Technology has led to numerous joint innovations. Through independent R&D, cooperative development, and BOT projects, they have developed over ten patents in areas like high-purity dry granulation equipment, remote-controlled fire chemical drying systems, and vacuum dryers. Their efforts have resulted in the successful creation of advanced products such as the FL boiling granulator, JCT pharmaceutical oven, LZG spiral vibration dryer, and combined vacuum dryer, many of which have received support from national innovation funds. Several of their products have won prestigious awards, including second and third place in the national industrial achievement awards. The FL boiling granulator and XZG double-cone rotary vacuum dryer have also been recognized with multiple technological progress awards. With strong innovation capabilities, Fan Qun Drying has become a key supplier of drying equipment to major international companies such as BASF, Bayer, Samsung, and Elf AtoChem, as well as leading domestic firms like Tong Ren Tang, Hengrui Pharmaceutical, and Baiyunshan Pharmaceutical. At the "2005 Seminar on the Display of Military and Civil Technologies and Industrialization of Scientific and Technological Achievements," Fan Qun Drying and Nanjing University of Science and Technology signed an agreement to develop and industrialize remote-controlled desiccation and granulation equipment for the fire chemical industry. Within just three months, the project reached the trial stage, and nearly 500 safety analysis parameters were collected through testing platforms. This breakthrough has addressed long-standing challenges in high-risk fire chemical production, such as personnel safety, energy consumption, and long processing times, and has significantly contributed to the technological transformation of China's high-risk chemical production equipment. President Xu Fuming emphasized that with Professor Fan Binghong now serving as a director at the university, they will further strengthen the establishment of a university-industry research and production platform, as well as a diversified basic technology platform, accelerating the birth and industrialization of cutting-edge technologies.
