Doosan Engine has received orders for 24 drilling ship engines
South Korea's Doosan Engine has successfully entered the drilling ship engine market and laid the foundation for entering the offshore engine market.
It is reported that in 2011, Doosan Engine has received orders for 24 drilling ship engines, the first of which is from four drilling vessels built by Samsung Heavy Industries. Each drilling ship power pack is equipped with six medium-speed engines, and the entire single-ship power pack is worth about 9 billion to 10 billion won (83 million to 92 million US dollars).
Doosan Engines expects to enter the offshore engine market by winning orders such as drilling vessels and FPSOs, and hopes to achieve an average annual size of 162 offshore engines by 2019. This year, Doosan Engine's goal is to achieve an order of 1.8 trillion won, of which 570 billion won has been achieved in the first half of the year.
