A serious collision occurred on Tuesday afternoon on the Dan Ryan Expressway near South 95th Street, where two tractor-trailer trucks struck a bus carrying individuals with developmental disabilities. According to the Illinois State Police, the incident has raised concerns about road safety and passenger welfare.

The bus was transporting 38 special needs adults from the Pilsen neighborhood to Robbins, as confirmed by Larry Langford, a media affairs director with the Chicago Fire Department. The passengers were reportedly en route for a scheduled activity or service.

According to police reports, one of the semi-trucks lost control and veered off the road, colliding with a concrete barrier. This caused the trailer, which was loaded with recycled paper, to detach and crash into the bus. The impact was significant, prompting an immediate emergency response.

Emergency services responded swiftly, with the Chicago Fire Department activating an EMS Plan 2, indicating a major incident requiring extensive medical support. First responders worked quickly to assist the injured and transport them to nearby hospitals.
