Car into the building in Palatine, 6-7-19
On Friday, June 7, 2019, around noon, Palatine firefighters were dispatched to a Hobby Lobby store located at 615 E. Dundee Road after reports of a car crashing into the building and catching fire. Witnesses called emergency services, stating that the vehicle was on fire and the driver was trapped inside. Police officers arrived first and used fire extinguishers to try to control the flames. The car was eventually removed from the building, the fire was fully extinguished, and the injured driver was taken to the hospital for treatment. Fire units from Palatine Rural and Hoffman Estates also responded to assist with the scene.
Just minutes after this incident, another emergency call came in—this time a Code 3 alert for smoke in a house in Palatine. Due to the high number of units already deployed at the Hobby Lobby location, firefighters from Arlington Heights and Buffalo Grove were sent to investigate the second incident.
Photos from the scene show the damaged car and emergency responders working to contain the fire. One image captures the moment the vehicle crashed into the building, while others show fire trucks and personnel on the scene. A slideshow of additional photos is available for further viewing.
The event highlights the quick response of local emergency services and the importance of community vigilance during emergencies. No other injuries were reported, and the situation was brought under control without major complications. Residents are reminded to stay alert and report any suspicious or dangerous activity immediately.
