On Friday, June 7, 2019, around noon, Palatine firefighters were dispatched to the Hobby Lobby located at 615 E. Dundee Road after a vehicle crashed into the building and caught fire. Witnesses reported that the car was on fire and the driver was trapped inside. Local police arrived first and used fire extinguishers in an attempt to control the flames. The vehicle was eventually removed from the premises, the fire was fully extinguished, and the injured driver was taken to the hospital for medical evaluation. Due to the high number of units already deployed at the Hobby Lobby, fire departments from Arlington Heights and Buffalo Grove were called in to handle the second call.
