Box Alarm in Northbrook, 7-15-15

This morning (July 15, 2015), Northbrook-based firefighting teams were called to respond to a structure fire at 1840 Raymond Drive. Thick plumes of smoke were billowing from the roof of a large, single-story commercial building measuring approximately 100 feet by 200 feet. The initial alarm quickly escalated to a Box Alarm due to the intensity of the situation. Firefighters deployed three separate lines to combat the blaze, which had managed to spread through the building's ventilation system. Despite their efforts, the fire caused significant damage, necessitating an extensive overhaul to fully extinguish it. Attached are several images captured by Tim Olk, showing the impressive but concerning scale of the incident. In the first photograph, you can see Northbrook firefighters hard at work, their equipment silhouetted against the backdrop of thick, dark smoke rising from the roof. The second image provides a clearer view of the smoke emanating from the commercial building, emphasizing just how dramatic the situation was. The final picture captures more of the firefighters in action, highlighting their dedication and teamwork as they worked to contain the flames. It’s always remarkable to witness the quick response and skill of local emergency services during situations like these. The firefighters’ ability to manage such a challenging scenario speaks volumes about their training and professionalism. Let’s hope that the aftermath of this fire doesn’t disrupt too many businesses or lives in the area.
