Big fire in Naperville

The Naperville Fire Department responded to a **3-11 alarm fire** on Sunday that started inside a downtown restaurant. The incident took place at the Rosebud Restaurant, located at 48 W. Chicago Avenue, and quickly spread through the void spaces of the older building. The Daily Herald covered the event in detail — you can read the full story **HERE**. At the height of the incident, all 10 Naperville fire companies were on scene, with additional mutual aid from surrounding departments including Bolingbrook, Downers Grove, Plainfield, Lisle-Woodridge, Darien Woodridge, Wheaton, Warrenville, Aurora, Glen Ellyn, Tristate, Lockport, North Aurora, and Westmont. This level of response highlights just how serious the situation was. Truck 1, one of the new twin Spartan/Crimson 103′ quints, was among the first to arrive and was seen working in front of the building during the early stages of the fire. Later, it was repositioned down the street, where it was captured by local photographer Larry Shapiro. Both of Naperville’s tower ladders were deployed, along with Squad 1, Engine 2, and two spare engines, all working to control the blaze. Firefighters faced challenging conditions, including thick smoke and a complex building structure with multiple roofs and a tongue-and-groove ceiling, which made locating hidden fire particularly difficult. A full gallery of photos from the scene is available **HERE**, offering a visual look at the intense efforts of the crews involved. The fire serves as a reminder of the importance of rapid response and coordination in large-scale incidents.
