Big fire in Naperville

The Naperville Fire Department responded to a **3-11 alarm fire** on Sunday, which began in a downtown restaurant. The incident started in a grease chute inside the Rosebud Restaurant located at 48 W. Chicago Avenue and quickly spread through the void spaces of the older building. At its peak, all 10 of Naperville’s fire companies were dispatched to the scene, with additional mutual aid coming from surrounding departments. Firefighters from Bolingbrook, Downers Grove, Plainfield, Lisle-Woodridge, Darien Woodridge, Wheaton, Warrenville, Aurora, Glen Ellyn, Tristate, Lockport, North Aurora, and Westmont arrived to assist. Among the units on scene was **Truck 1**, one of the brand new twin Spartan/Crimson 103’ quints, which was first seen operating in front of the building. Later, it was repositioned down the street and captured in a photo by Larry Shapiro. Both of Naperville’s tower ladders were deployed, along with Squad 1, Engine 2, and two spare engines that were pumping water throughout the operation. The fire produced heavy smoke, making it difficult for crews to locate hidden flames within the walls and multiple roof layers. The presence of a tongue-and-groove ceiling further complicated the search for fire extension. Photos from the scene show the intensity of the situation, with firefighters battling smoke and heat as they worked to contain the blaze. A full gallery of images is available [HERE](#).
