Berwyn Box Alarm 12-12-11

The Berwyn Fire Department responded to a house fire last night. Josh Boyajian shared some photos and a detailed account of the incident. Berwyn FD was called to a residential structure on Oak Park Avenue at 3824 around 10:30 PM. By the time firefighters arrived, the fire had already been partially contained, but it was quickly upgraded to a MABAS box due to its intensity. A police officer who arrived first on the scene managed to rescue a victim from inside the burning building after breaking down the door. The individual had been overcome by smoke and was found unconscious, but was later stabilized and taken to the hospital. Josh captured several images after the fire was mostly under control. The photos show the extent of the damage and the efforts made by emergency responders to contain the blaze. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and no injuries were reported among the firefighters or the residents.
