Subject: Exciting Updates from West Chicago FPD
Hi there,
I just got this update from John Tulipano, and it’s quite an eventful one! Last Friday was a big day for the West Chicago Fire Protection District as they celebrated both a retirement and promotions. I’ve attached some photos below so you can see how everything went down.
First up, Chief Pat Tanner presented a retirement gift to Deputy Chief Joe Buenrostro, who retired on February 27, 2015, after dedicating 40 incredible years to the West Chicago FPD. It’s always bittersweet when someone like Joe leaves, but his legacy will live on through all the lives he touched during his time here.
On the flip side, there were some fantastic promotions too. Firefighter Erik Ronge was celebrated for passing his probationary period, and everyone seemed really proud of him. His parents were there to show their support, which is such a heartwarming touch.
And then came the moment everyone was waiting for—promotions to leadership roles. Newly minted Battalion Chief Jeff Buccola received his badge from his wife, while newly promoted Lieutenant Ken Zahara was handed his helmet by his daughter. It’s moments like these that remind us of the family spirit within the department. Later, his wife helped pin on his badge, sealing his place in this tight-knit team.
These ceremonies really highlight the dedication and hard work of everyone involved. Each individual brings something unique to the table, and it’s inspiring to see how far they’ve come. John Tulipano did an amazing job capturing all the smiles and emotions in his photos.
