Samsung is creating a free mobile VR headset
According to reports, Samsung is creating a virtual reality headset. The VR headset is designed around smartphones and the company will officially announce gear VR at the IFA event on Wednesday.
Samsung’s representative pointedly pointed out that compared with the Magic Ring’s “Independent Rift†headset, gear damping actually does not have its own display. Instead, it needs to be matched with the newly discovered Samsung Note 4 machine display. The note 4 actually ports the gear to the VR through a micro-USB connection and acts as a brain headset, as well as adding a gyro sensor inside the gear's VR cannator with a 20ms delay. It can provide a completely unlimited 360 virtual reality experience, Samsung's representative pointedly pointed out.
Samsung stated that it designed the VR of the gear to be ergonomically suited to its "mobile virtual reality" focus. In other words, gear damping is essentially a fancy version of the Google Cardboard concept headphones, but the product has more software optimized.
Samsung promises to bring more virtual reality movies, games, and mobile virtual reality platforms to big-name partners. In fact, the headset will be equipped with a 16GB microSD card loaded with Marvel's virtual reality demos from Avengers, Cirque du Soleil, DreamWorks, VEVO and other shows.
All in all, gear damping looks rather interesting, even though it is basically a fancy accessory for Galaxy Note 4, but it is indeed a popular product.
