In the pulverization process, the size of the ore particles is not large at the same time, but is gradually completed. At each stage of the comminution, there is always a portion of the desired fines produced. In the grinding process, in order to timely separate the qualified fine particles, prevent over-grinding, and improve the productivity of the mill, it is necessary to have a classification device to complete. The qualified particles are sent to the sorting operation from the graded overflow (the sieve is the sieved product), and the coarse particles are returned to the mill for regrind. Therefore, grading plays an important role in grinding operations.

Currently in conventional mineral grading plant equipment: spiral classifier, hydrocyclone and a fine sieve.

1) Spiral classifier. This grader is graded according to the difference in sedimentation speed of different sizes of ore particles in the aqueous medium. Due to its simple structure, stable operation and convenient operation, it is widely used in concentrators. The spiral classifier is divided into a high-lower type, a sunken type and a low-lying type according to the position of the spiral in the water tank and the height of the overflow surface. The sorghum type is suitable for separating the overflow of more than 0.15mm, so it is mostly used for the first stage of grinding, while the submerged type is suitable for dividing the product of less than 0.15mm, and more in the second stage of grinding with the mill. 2) Hydrocyclone. The hydrocyclone is a grading device that uses centrifugal force to accelerate the sedimentation of ore particles. It requires pressure to feed the mine, so it consumes a large amount of power, but has a small footprint, is inexpensive, has a large processing capacity, and has high classification efficiency, and can obtain a fine overflow. Flow products, mostly used in classification equipment in the second stage closed-circuit grinding.

3) Fine sieve. Since the spiral classifier and the hydrocyclone are graded according to the sedimentation velocity of the ore particles in the water medium, it is easy to produce anti-enrichment of useful minerals in the grit, resulting in over-pulverization of useful minerals. The fine sieve is classified according to the geometrical size of the ore particles, is almost unaffected by the density and has high classification efficiency. Therefore, in recent years, fine screening has been paid more and more attention in the grinding cycle.
