In 2016, China Telecom Fujian Branch set out to deploy the NB-IoT trial network in Mawei District, Fuzhou, Fujian, and cooperated with Huawei and other companies to develop smart city applications based on the NB-IoT network.
This time, Fujian Telecom announced the official opening of the NB-IoT (Narrowband Internet of Things) network in Fujian Province, marking the Fujian NB-IoT network will move toward commercial scale. The first Fujian Provincial IoT Project Innovation Competition launched on April 10th and the 2017 China IOT China Fujian Sea Area election campaign ended on the same day. After several months of competition, the “IoT Wisdom Community Visualization Platform” of Anmins Intelligent Co., Ltd., and the “Online and No-Car Carrier” of Fujian Lian Lian Lian Information Technology Co., Ltd. were eventually selected as “most influential”. "Power" and "most investment value" projects.
The competition was hosted by Xinhuanet, China Telecom Fujian, Fuzhou Mawei District People's Government, and Fuzhou Economic and Information Committee. These projects have been reviewed by an expert jury, resulting in the “Top Impact Internet of Things Project” and “Top Investment Value Internet of Things Project” Top 10 projects.
Xie Chaoxiong, deputy director of the Fujian Provincial Economic and Information Commission, said that the competition aims to review the achievements of Fujian's Internet of Things industry and provide support for industrial development.
As one of China's five strategic emerging industries, the Internet of Things industry is becoming an important engine to drive economic restructuring. Fujian Province is an important force in China's Internet of Things industry. Since 2010, two consecutive three-year action plans to accelerate the development of the Internet of Things have been introduced.
According to data from the Fujian Provincial Economic and Information Commission, the scale of the Internet of Things industry in 2016 was about 80 billion yuan, ranking the top in the country, with more than 500 related companies. It is one of the four national-level Internet of Things industry bases. Fujian Province proposed to strive to increase the number of leading companies and industry platforms serving the country by 2020, so that the output value of the Internet of Things industry will reach 100 billion yuan.

In total, the top three projects will perform road shows on the day of the event. The “Smart City Underground Safety Management System” project of Fujian Sanxinlong Information Technology Development Co., Ltd. has won the placards of a number of venture capital agencies during the road show of this contest. The project uses Internet of Things technology such as the narrow-band Internet of Things (NB-IoT) to enhance the municipality's ability to cope with information and control of abnormal drainage and flooding events, and reduce the loss of life and property caused by urban internal disasters.
