EU Chamber of Commerce clarifies: China does not force foreign-investment parts to establish joint ventures
According to Reuters news recently, the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China issued a statement on its official website saying: China will not force foreign auto parts companies to set up joint ventures in China.
Last week, the head of the German auto parts manufacturer ElringKlinger once told the German “Stuttgart Daily†that China has urged German three auto parts companies to establish joint ventures with local Chinese competitors. Although the newspaper pointed out that Bosch, Continental, and Leoni have all indicated that they have not received such notification, this news has caused anxiety among European companies. The European Union Chamber of Commerce in China stated that recently Chinese regulators have stepped up their anti-monopoly investigations for industries including autos and parts manufacturing. The false rumor described above may be a misunderstanding of individual foreign-funded enterprises during the sensitive period regarding official 2011 suppliers' restriction measures in the field of electric vehicles. The European Union Chamber of Commerce in China has communicated with the companies involved in the rumor, the relevant departments of the Chinese government, the China Automobile Industry Association and its large number of automotive industry members.
