Construction machinery industry recovery compact excavator tight

As China's road infrastructure, energy and water conservancy, urban construction and other aspects of infrastructure construction have entered the peak period of development, the demand for excavator market has increased year by year. In 2010, there were 252 enterprises above designated size in China's excavator manufacturing industry, with sales of 169.785 billion yuan, profit from product sales of 25.367 billion yuan, and total profit of 21.406 billion yuan, both increasing by more than 80% year-on-year.

According to statistics, in 2011, the total number of excavators sold worldwide was approximately 450,000. Among them, China is the largest market with sales of 170,000 units and a market share of 38.8%. China has the largest number of basic equipment plans in the world.

However, since the second half of 2012, due to the cooling of domestic and international market environment and the shrinking market demand, China's construction machinery industry began to experience high inventory levels and overcapacity. This situation of oversupply has continued until 2013. From the sales data, sales of cranes and other products in the first quarter showed a decline of about 20%. The downturn in downstream demand and the bad debts of accounts receivable have caused the company to tighten its sales conditions and its profits have been greatly affected.

In the context of the slow recovery of the entire construction machinery industry, although the excavator market in China has experienced rapid growth with exceptions, there are also phenomena of uneven heating and cooling in both sizes. Among them, compared with large and medium-sized excavators, the sales of small excavators have become increasingly popular, and this year has become a “narrow stock” and has been favored by more and more customers.

Recently, Li Hongbao, secretary-general of the China Excavator Association, also stated that China's mini excavators are optimistic about the situation this year and will grow by more than 5%; the situation of medium-sized and above excavators is not optimistic and will drop by more than 5%. Taken together, in 2013, the overall excavator industry in China will still grow by 5%-10%. Compared with last year, the excavator industry is cautiously optimistic.
