This helps fill the gap when the at-fault driver isn’t fully covered.
However, if your UM limit is only $10,000, you won’t be able to claim the full amount because policies can’t be combined. Importantly, filing a UM claim doesn’t affect your auto insurance rates, since this coverage is meant to protect you from the fault of others.
